West Tower Wedding Photography with Jennie & James What a fantastic review to receive in such a tumultuous year! I remember getting the call from James and feeling the thrill of a last-minute booking for their West Tower wedding photography. I usually get booked 1-2 years in advance so it was a strange feeling but a welcome one.
“Lee was absolutely fantastic. Due to the second national lockdown, we decided to move our wedding forward by 3 weeks in order to squeeze it in having already postponed once. We were recommended to Lee by the venue but with only 24 hours’ notice, we didn’t hold much hope. Lee was in fact able to make it and it was the best decision we made to get him on board for our micro-wedding. The photos Lee produced were simply stunning but not only that, his relaxed and calm approach allowed the day to flow almost as if he wasn’t there making the photos incredibly natural.
If any couples are looking for a photographer either for a ‘normal’ wedding or a micro-wedding, we would both strongly recommend Lee – it’s a challenging time no doubt for all wedding suppliers, but the way Lee handled himself – you would be fooled into thinking he had done 100’s of these kinds of weddings.
A great guy and a cracking photographer, we plan to use Lee for our party when the world returns to normal :)
Thanks so much! Jennie & James X”
Ballroom Wedding Ceremony
After arriving with the couple I spent a little time with them both and their families. As someone who usually blends within a large crowd to achieve a more documentary style of photography, I found myself talking to everyone and felt myself becoming a bigger part of their intimate wedding. With just seven guests, the couple enjoyed a much less formal wedding ceremony filled with a few tears and much joy before walking back up the aisle as husband and wife to enjoy a welcome glass of fizz.
West Tower Wedding Portraits
For a Tuesday in November, we were pretty lucky with the weather and were able to whisk the couple around the venue for some portraits both inside and out of this fantastic iconic manor house.
The Mere Resort Wedding Reception
The wedding party hopped in their cars for the journey south to Knutsford for a family meal at The Mere Resort. They enjoyed more drinks and I took full advantage of some more good weather to get some more portraits of the couples before they sat for their intimate meal with their family. As they were called for dinner, I packed up and left a very happy photographer thinking what a great way to spend a Tuesday!
So massive congratulations to Jennie & James once again, it was an unexpected pleasure to join you for your wedding!
About West Tower
West Tower was built circa 1875, by Edgar Musgrove, who purchased the land two years prior. Musgrove was a wealthy cotton broker, part of Liverpool’s thriving trade industry. For 150 years, the majority of Britain’s cotton came through Liverpool; arriving at the docks, where it was sent on to Lancashire’s textile mills, before returning back to Liverpool to be shipped across the globe.
Many years later, West Tower was transformed from a grand family home to a boutique hotel and restaurant. It remained this way for around 15 years until 2010, when the property was bought by its current owner, Paul Bolton. Since acquiring West Tower, Paul has a made numerous changes to the site, including the addition of more bedrooms and an extension to the ballroom, as well as multiple refurbishments. Paul closed the restaurant in 2012 to focus solely on weddings and private functions, transforming it into the award-winning exclusive venue it is today.
