As someone who has grown up around Stockport, I knew how iconic Stockport Plaza was as a local landmark and I was thrilled when Beth & Faizal got in touch to tell me all about their wedding plans there.
Beth & Faizal first met in South Africa and had planned for an October 2020 wedding, however, the pandemic changed their plans somewhat and they delayed their celebrations until 2021. They did however decide to get married officially in December 2020 and I was delighted to join them for a post-ceremony shoot around Manchester.
Fast forward to November 2021 and we arrive at their wedding day. I joined Beth for bridal preparations at their home in Stockport where she enjoyed a bit of pampering, champagne, and the good company of her bridal party and family. Once ready, Beth shared a special moment when her dad saw her for the first time in her wedding outfit before jumping in their fantastic Land Rover Defender for the journey up to the church.
St Josephs Church Wedding Ceremony
I then met Faizal who was at church greeting their family and friends, he sat and spent a few minutes writing a short letter to Beth so she could open it just before the ceremony. I’ll leave it to your imagination what was in the letter but I think it had the desired effect and raised the emotions for the ceremony ahead.
After a lovely ceremony filled with laughter and a little emotion, the couple signed their marriage schedule and made their way down the aisle as a married couple. They enjoyed a flurry of confetti and loads of hugs of congratulations from their waiting family and friends. The wedding party then made the short walk from church to the Plaza for their drinks reception. In keeping with the theatrical theme of the day, the couple had their own fab movie posters made that decorated the outside of the theatre.
Inside the main auditorium, the guests enjoyed drinks and canapes whilst the classic movie Lady & The Tramp played on the cinema screen behind them. We took the chance to wander around the theatre for some portraits of the couple, including the fascinating projector room and all the secret back areas that people don’t always get to see.
Northern Lights Wedding Band
After a delicious meal and a round of speeches in the beautifully decorated Cafe Restaurant, the couple moved back into the main auditorium to greet their evening guests. Just before the couple took to the stage to enjoy their first dance, Faizal performed a recital of In My Life by The Beatles which he dedicated to Beth, a lovely moment that all the guests enjoyed. They then took up positions on the stage, the curtains came back and the couple performed their first dance to the delight of everyone watching.
So a massive congratulations to Beth & Faizal, it was a pleasure to join you for your exciting and unique wedding celebration. I had an amazing day as your Stockport Plaza Wedding Photographer.
