Nyla & Jamie broke a lot of wedding conventions (which I’m all for BTW) when planning their Haddon Grove Wedding Photography. They wanted a massive DIY element to their day, to keep the whole wedding super chilled and just about a massive amazing summer party with their family and friends. I mean, check out Nyla’s dress and boots!!
Choosing Haddon Grove at Bakewell Retreats was the first massive step in their plans. A fantastic rural location with space for their guests to sleep and relax on the run-up to the day, it also has some amazing scenery and a space for a marquee or tipi. Another great choice was their catering team, the couple chose Ayubowan who specialises in delicious Sri Lankan cuisine and also took the helm when it came to running the day.
Festival Wedding At Haddon Grove
Nyla & Jamie kept the morning of the wedding super informal as they both wandered about the venue greeting and chatting to guests as well as sorting any last-minute preparations. Their ceremony took place on the lawn of the venue as they had legally married the day before to allow a friend of theirs to conduct the ceremony which gave it a personal touch. One of Nyla’s cousins played the couple out of their ceremony on his dhol drum and they enjoyed their drinks reception and hugs of congratulations with their guests.
After some family groups and a few portraits, the guests made their way up to the marquee for a pub quiz and a round of speeches. The guests then enjoyed a selection of fresh curries and a massive (and expertly selected) free bar. It’s safe to say that I was expecting the party to be pretty epic.
Late Summer Wedding In Bakewell
Nyla & Jamie then cut their cake and served it up to their guests for dessert and their band (who were guests too) started up. I have to say that it’s rare to see a full dance floor at 6 pm at a wedding but the music was brilliant and I reco the free bar helped too. The guests enjoyed garden games in between the band sets and also helped the pizza van take the steep hill up to the marquee before heading back into the marquee to mosh out to the last set.
So huge congratulations to Nyla & Jamie, it was a proper pleasure to spend the day with you guys! I had amazing fun with you all as your Haddon Grove Wedding Photographer.
