What an incredible way to spend a Saturday! I had the absolute pleasure of joining Joanna & David on a gorgeously sunny day for their beautiful wedding at the stunning Ashes Barns Country House in Endon. It was the perfect backdrop for a day full of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments, everything I love about Ashes Barns Country House Wedding Photography.
The morning began at Dove Farm Barns in Carverswall, where Joanna and her family enjoyed a wonderfully relaxed start to the day. There were bacon sandwiches, champagne, golf on the TV, and a warm, easy atmosphere as everyone got ready.
St Edward’s Church In Leek
The ceremony took place at the historic St Edward’s Church in the centre of Leek. I met David there with his best man, welcoming friends and family as they arrived. Joanna made her entrance in true style in a VW camper van, walking down the aisle with her proud dad. After a heartfelt ceremony, the couple stepped out into glorious sunshine to greet their guests—one of those moments that makes Ashes Barns Country House Wedding Photography so full of joy.
Sunshine & Gin Pimping
Arriving at The Ashes, Joanna & David enjoyed their drinks reception in the gardens of the country house, a fantastic gin bar was set up, and refreshing Brewdog beers were handed out. We paused for some family groups before taking the couple around the grounds of the house, some portraits and a little alone time. We were really spoilt with the gardens, the lake, and the stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
Host Your Own Roast
Once everyone was convened in the main barn, the couple was welcomed into their wedding breakfast, and the ‘Host Your Own Roast’ could begin. Large, delicious joints of beef were brought to each table, and carvers were given chef hats and aprons to wear as they served the rest of the table. A fantastic ice breaker for the tables and always great fun to photograph.
A Travel Themed Wedding Cake
After dinner and a round of excellent speeches, the guests relaxed into the evening celebrations. Joanna & David greeted more of their friends who were just in time to witness the cutting of their amazing (and intricately designed) wedding cake and the first dance.
