About Their Wedding Day
Spring weddings always have a special energy about them. There is something about the brighter mornings, the fresh air and the promise of sunshine that makes the day feel even more exciting. Laura and Martin’s beautiful Stockport Town Hall Ballroom Wedding captured all of that perfectly.
From a relaxed morning getting ready with champagne and laughter to a dramatic ceremony in the historic Council Chamber, their day was filled with personality, humour and some wonderfully thoughtful details. With the stunning architecture of Stockport Town Hall as the backdrop, it was a celebration that felt both grand and completely personal.

A Relaxed Morning Getting Ready
Laura’s morning began at home surrounded by her bridesmaids. The atmosphere was exactly what you would hope for on a wedding morning. There was music playing, champagne flowing and plenty of banter between friends who had clearly known each other for years.
The house was full of excitement as hair and makeup were finished and dresses were carefully hung ready for the big moment. Laura was calm and happy, enjoying every part of the morning rather than rushing through it.

Those quieter moments getting ready often become some of the most memorable parts of the day. Bridesmaids helping with jewellery, a final toast before leaving the house and the laughter that comes from nerves mixed with excitement all made for a brilliant start to Laura and Martin’s Stockport Town Hall Ballroom Wedding.
While Laura and her bridesmaids were getting ready at home, Martin spent the morning with his best man at the Village Hotel in Cheadle.

A Beautiful Ceremony in the Council Chamber
The ceremony for Laura and Martin’s Stockport Town Hall Ballroom Wedding took place inside the Council Chamber, one of the most striking rooms in the building.
The chamber is a stunning semi circular ceremonial room with a high domed ceiling and four beautiful stained glass windows. The intricately carved leather upholstered seating adds a sense of history and elegance that you simply cannot recreate in a modern venue.
One of the most memorable features of the room is the double aisle. This allows the wedding party to make a dramatic entrance, something that always adds a special moment as guests turn to watch the bride walk towards the front of the chamber.
With space for up to 150 guests, the Council Chamber is ideal for couples who want a ceremony that feels both grand and intimate at the same time. As Laura made her way down the aisle, the room felt completely still with everyone focused on that moment.
The ceremony itself was full of smiles and a few emotional moments before the couple officially became husband and wife.

Portraits Around Stockport Town Hall
After the drinks reception, we took a relaxed walk around Stockport Town Hall for some couple photographs.
The architecture of the building is genuinely impressive. With its grand staircases, stone detailing and elegant windows, it feels far removed from the busy town centre just outside. With the spring sunshine lighting the building perfectly, it genuinely felt like we could have been somewhere in Italy.
The combination of historic architecture and soft spring light made the perfect backdrop for Laura and Martin’s portraits. These quieter moments away from the crowd are always a chance for couples to pause and enjoy a few minutes together before the celebrations continue.
It was the perfect transition into the reception part of their Stockport Town Hall Ballroom Wedding.

The Mad Hatter Themed Ballroom Reception
Laura and Martin’s wedding breakfast took place in the spectacular Ballroom at Stockport Town Hall.
The room itself is incredible. The Edwardian Ballroom features vast ceilings, elegant chandeliers and beautiful stained glass windows that fill the room with natural light. It is one of the most impressive reception spaces in the region and can accommodate large celebrations with ease.
For their reception, Laura and Martin chose a wonderfully creative theme inspired by the Mad Hatter’s tea party from Alice in Wonderland.
The tables were filled with playful details, colourful decorations and quirky touches that immediately made guests smile. It was a theme that suited the atmosphere of the day perfectly. Fun, relaxed and full of personality.

Hilarious Speeches and Plenty of Banter
After everyone had finished their afternoon tea, it was time for the speeches.
These turned out to be one of the highlights of the day. Martin spoke first and thanked everyone for coming before sharing a few heartfelt words about Laura.
Then came the best man. His speech was packed with stories, jokes and plenty of friendly embarrassment for the groom. The room was full of laughter and even a few playful comments from guests joining in.
It was exactly the kind of speech that keeps everyone entertained and sets the perfect tone for the rest of the evening celebrations.

Portraits On The Marble Staircase
After dinner, we shot some more portraits on the iconic Marble Staircase. Along with some portraits of the groom enjoying a cigar before changing into his comfy Batman slippers.
The Town Hall features a sweeping double staircase at the heart of the building, crafted with marble imported from Sicily at the turn of the last century.

Cake Cutting and First Dance
As the evening began, Laura and Martin gathered everyone around for the cutting of their rustic wedding cake.
The cake fitted perfectly with the relaxed feel of the day and looked fantastic against the elegant backdrop of the Ballroom.
Shortly afterwards, the couple took to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife. The room gathered around to watch before slowly joining them on the dance floor once the music picked up.
From that point on the evening turned into a brilliant party, bringing their Stockport Town Hall Ballroom Wedding to a perfect close.
