Lucy & Ally’s Wedding At The Black Friar In Salford

The Real Northern Awesome

I’ve been good friends with Ally since we met back in 2017. He’s a fellow wedding photographer under the name Ally M Photography. We’re part of a close-knit friend group of wedding photographers who recommend each other, assist however we can, and have the occasional incredibly drunk and raucous nights out together.

When Ally told us he was getting married, we were thrilled for him. Secretly, we each wondered if we’d get the call to shoot his photos. Ally asked us to be guests at his wedding, but we decided amongst ourselves to do something interesting; we’d each shoot a part of his wedding day.

We all shoot quite similarly, taking a documentary approach to how we work, but we also each have a part of the wedding that we’re more known for.

The Dream Team was –

Jack Parkinson Photography, who shot morning preparations, second shot the ceremony, drinks reception, and speeches.

Lee Brown Photography, who shot the ceremony, drinks reception, family groups, and couple portraits.

Steve Grogan Photography, who shot the speeches and the evening party.

Andy Griffiths Photo & Film, who filmed the entire day.

Preparations At Ducie Street Warehouse

Both Lucy & Ally spent the morning at the urban but stylish Ducie Street Warehouse. They had appointments booked at the Native by Numa hotel within the warehouse, ensuring that there was plenty of space to get ready, relax, and simply enjoy their morning.

Jack & Andy spent the morning with both Lucy & Ally, capturing all the details and the joyful atmosphere of two people with their family and friends, excitedly preparing for a fantastic day ahead.

Wedding At The Black Friar In Salford

Set in the heart of Salford, just a stone’s throw from Manchester city centre, The Black Friar is a beautifully restored pub with a unique story. Originally built in 1886 and reborn in 2021 after years of neglect, it blends rich historic charm with modern warmth, making it feel like a cosy, stylish hideaway for couples and their guests to gather and celebrate.

Lucy & Ally got married in an outdoor ceremony surrounded by their family and friends. Their celebrant told a short story of their lives together and remembered those who couldn’t be with them on their special day. It was a fantastic ceremony and an honor to witness.

Drinks, Magic & A Relaxed BBQ

Lucy & Ally could relax after their ceremony; they enjoyed drinks with their guests, photos with their family, and were treated to some magic from their magician. We had a quick wander around the venue for some portraits of the couple before everyone settled down for some heartfelt and emotional speeches.

The guests enjoyed a delicious BBQ meal, which kept with the relaxed atmosphere of the day. Family and friends chatted & laughed together before we all got ready for the next part of the day.

A Party At The Deaf Institute

The Deaf Institute is a beautifully restored Victorian building that pairs history with bold and modern flair. Originally built in 1878, this iconic venue has deep roots in performance and community—a story you can feel in every arch, tiled corridor, and glowing light.

Wanting a unique and large capacity venue, Lucy & Ally moved their wedding party to The Deaf Institute. More guests joined for their evening celebrations, and they excitedly greeted more family and friends before enjoying a fantastic party late into the night.
