A Christmas Wedding at Village Point
As a wedding photographer, there’s something so magical about Christmas weddings. The sparkle of fairy lights, the crisp winter air, and the sense of joy and togetherness that seems to be amplified during the festive season. Hannah & Jamie’s Christmas wedding at Village Point in Heaton Moor was everything you’d hope for from a winter celebration warm, personal, fun, and filled with heartfelt moments from start to finish. For me, it was an absolute joy to capture their story, and a wonderful example of what makes Village Point Wedding Photography so special.

Morning Preparations
Hannah chose to get ready at Village Point, using The Lodge room for her morning preparations. The Lodge is such a brilliant space for bridal prep—it has a rustic charm with its vaulted ceilings, soft lighting, and cosy atmosphere that feels both intimate and stylish. Hannah and her bridesmaids filled the room with laughter as they had their hair and makeup done, the excitement building with every passing minute. The moment Hannah slipped into her dress was a highlight—there’s something magical about a bride stepping into her gown in the very room where later she’ll walk down the aisle.

Meanwhile, Jamie spent the morning at home in Stockport with his friends. The mood was relaxed and full of camaraderie—beers in hand, jokes flying, and the kind of atmosphere that makes groomsmen prep such a fun part of the story. These little behind-the-scenes moments are just as important as the ceremony itself, and I loved capturing Jamie enjoying time with his mates before heading over to meet his bride.

A First Look to Remember
One of the most touching parts of Hannah & Jamie’s day was their decision to have a first look. It was a beautiful and emotional moment as Jamie turned to see Hannah for the first time, his expression a perfect mixture of pride and love. As a photographer, these moments are gold—genuine, unposed, and filled with real emotion. It set the tone for the rest of the day, reminding everyone that weddings are, above all, about love and connection.

Portraits in Heaton Moor
Before the formal celebrations began, Hannah & Jamie took a wander around Heaton Moor for some portraits. The streets had that festive feel with twinkling lights, and the crisp December air added a touch of romance. We stopped by St. Mary & St. Mina’s Coptic Orthodox Church, which provided a beautiful backdrop with its historic architecture, before heading to The Elizabethan Pub for a few relaxed shots. It was such a fun way to kick off their day together—documenting their love story in places that mean something to them, and capturing a blend of natural, candid images alongside more creative portraits.

Pre-Ceremony Celebrations
Once back at Village Point, Hannah & Jamie spent a few hours with their day guests in the Ballroom before the ceremony began. The Ballroom is a stunning space with its maple-sprung dance floor, banquet tables, and warm, stylish décor. It’s big enough to host a lively party yet still manages to feel intimate and welcoming—a real gem for winter weddings. Guests mingled, glasses clinked, and the atmosphere was alive with festive cheer.

A Ceremony Full of Fun and Heart
Although Hannah & Jamie had officially tied the knot a few weeks earlier, they wanted to celebrate their marriage with a wedding ceremony at Village Point. They held it in The Lodge Room, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. What made it even more special was that one of their friends conducted the ceremony. In a playful twist, he dressed as a priest for part of it, adding a huge dose of humour to the heartfelt vows. It was the perfect reflection of Hannah & Jamie’s personalities—fun-loving, light-hearted, but deeply in love.
From behind the camera, it was wonderful to capture the mix of laughter, happy tears, and the warmth of their guests gathered close. This is what I love about Village Point Wedding Photography—each couple puts their own stamp on the venue, and it becomes a completely personal space for their story.

Evening Celebrations
As the evening rolled in, Hannah & Jamie’s wedding shifted into full celebration mode. They greeted their evening guests with smiles and hugs before cutting their wedding cake—a moment met with cheers and applause. Then came their first dance, a beautiful and intimate moment between the two of them as their guests looked on. The Ballroom, with its atmospheric lighting and spacious dance floor, transformed into the perfect party space. The music played, the drinks flowed, and the dance floor filled with laughter, movement, and energy.
For me, these are the moments that truly bring a wedding to life. The candid shots of friends laughing, parents dancing, and little ones twirling under the lights are just as important as the portraits and ceremony images. They tell the full story of the day—the joy, the fun, and the sense of togetherness that Hannah & Jamie’s wedding had in abundance.

Why Village Point is Perfect for Weddings
Having photographed many venues, I can confidently say that Village Point is one of the most unique and versatile spaces for couples planning their wedding. Originally built in 1881, it was lovingly restored in 2016 to combine Victorian character with boutique-hotel style interiors. The venue offers two beautiful event spaces:
- The Ballroom: A stunning space for 80–180 guests with banquet tables, Chiavari chairs, and a maple-sprung dance floor. Perfect for big celebrations.
- The Lodge: A more intimate setting for up to 60 guests, with vaulted ceilings and a cosy, rustic charm.
With its premium catering options, staffed bars, and experienced team, Village Point makes planning a wedding seamless and enjoyable. It’s also in the heart of Heaton Moor, surrounded by characterful streets, historic buildings, and charming spots for portraits. For couples who want a wedding venue that feels stylish yet personal, it’s an absolute winner.
This wedding showed just how versatile the venue can be. From emotional first looks to a lively evening party, Village Point provided the perfect backdrop at every stage of Hannah & Jamie’s day. And from a photography perspective, it offered endless opportunities for creative, storytelling images—making Village Point Wedding Photography an absolute dream.
