Summer Comes Early For A Wedding At Styal Lodge

Friday saw the beginning of an amazing double wedding bank holiday weekend. I joined Rachel & Paul at the gorgeous Styal Lodge located in Wilmslow. set in the peaceful national trust village of Styal, in the beautiful Cheshire countryside. It really was the perfect choice for their wedding day!

It’s always a pleasure to shoot at a brand new venue for me, keeping my creativity bubbling. Rachel began her day at the venue in the bridal room. She was joined by her family and bridal party including one of her friends Josh who was an honorary Bridesman for the day. I get to photograph fantastic moments as the bridal party interacts during preparations. Paul prepared himself at The Stannylands Hotel with his best man and groomsmen. It’s always interesting how different groom prep is from bridal prep. The biggest difference is usually the time it takes to get hair finished and outfits on.

Jamie Mathias Wedding Singer

Rachel and Paul cemented their union in a very lovely ceremony at in the main hall of the lodge. When signing the register, their wedding singer Jamie Mathias sang a personalised song about the couple to the delight of the couple and their guests. When photographing weddings the stories that are told at the couple’s wedding make my job incredibly humbling and satisfying.

After the ceremony, the guests enjoyed a fantastic wedding reception in the courtyard. Pink Pepper Catering served drinks, delicious canapés, and everyone had a fantastic time. Capturing the dynamics, moments and stories of the day is my main goal. The season can really have an impact on a wedding and I find Spring weddings are some of my favorites. The sun showed its face and made the day nice and bright, which made the guests happy and gave some wonderful contrasty light.

Gorgeous Sunshine Down By The Lake

We jumped on the golf buggy for the short ride over to the iconic lake for some beautiful portraits. Rachel and Paul treated their guests to a top-notch wedding breakfast right before the speeches. Photographing the speeches is a challenging part of the day because it’s all about the words, so as wedding photographers, we have to do our best to tell the story of the words with our photographs. Luckily the speeches from all involved were pretty hilarious which prompted much laughter from the top table and guests.

After dinner, the guests relaxed in the cool evening sun before the evening began. Andy Murphy DJ definitely pulled off an epic party, the dance floor was crowded for much of the night while the newlyweds and their friends were showing off their best moves. It was a pleasure to work with James Wray creating the cinematics of the day.

So a Massive Congratulations to Rachel & Paul, it’s been a joy to get to know you both and join you on your wedding day. Thanks so much for having me as your photographer!!
